2012 Ford Kuga

This just in! Ford is testing a whole delegation of Ford prototypes in Detroit. This car will be replacing the European Koga and the American Excape in late 2012.

The new Ford Kuga is the production model showin in the Detroit Departure COncept. It was already announced back then that this SUV model will be replacing both the European and American Kuga and Escape as part of Ford’s new global scale tactic called “One Ford” which started with the current FOcus. THe “C1″ bottom group of the new Kuga / Escape is even shared with several other FOrds.

CompromisesAmericans will probably need time to get accustomed to this new SUV. They will soon step out of a tough, scrawny but obese SUV into a gracelful, dyanmic crossover vehicle. In Europe we see that tnew new Ford Kuga as an evolution as we know today… but one size bigger. Americans don’t easily step down to a smaller car.
Market OpportunitiesThe kuga is currently known to us a very fine driving SUV / crossover with enough engine power, therefore resulting in an above average purchase pricewise. This is the main reason it’s lacking in sales. Ford would be making a good move by offering newer generation of more efficient and cleaner power engines (now only 2.0 TDCi). This will allow the car to be more competitively priced. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost will likely be available in the gasoline section. THe modest 1.6 Ecoboost will probably follow at a later stage.
